Days after the upset of Afghanistan beating England in the ODI World Cup 2023, another shocker took place with the Netherlands defeating South Africa in Match 15 of the tournament at HPCA stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday.
Scott Edwards powers Netherlands to a competitive total
South Africa elected to bowl after winning the toss, setting the stage for an exciting showdown. The Netherlands started their innings with Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd at the crease, but the early going proved challenging for the Dutch side. Vikramjit managed only 2 runs, while O’Dowd contributed 18 runs. The Dutch batsmen struggled to make significant scores, with Scott Edwards being the standout performer with a remarkable 78 runs.
South Africa’s bowlers put in a solid performance, with Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, and Gerald Coetzee each picking up crucial wickets. Ngidi and Rabada both secured 2 wickets, while Jansen and Coetzee took 2 wickets and 1 wicket, respectively. The Netherlands posted a total of 245/8 in their allotted 43 overs.
